Mindset, Energetics, Spacious Businesses with Kaitlyn Kessler

Q: What is energetics?

A: Have you heard of being versus doing? That's a lot of my clients. I think that just a lot of people in general are really used to being the doing. What do I need to do hit this goal? What do I need to post? When do I need to post it? What do I need to email? And very much doing doing doing. And what energetics is, is the other side of that equation, which is like, who are you being while you're doing those sorts of things? It's not like who are you being, but are you being someone who shows up the way you want to show up?

Q: How do I embody spaciousness in my business? If I want to work less but not sacrifice income, how do I go about doing that?

A: When I think of creating spaciousness in business, two main areas come to mind. First, there’s the practical side—your business model, pricing, and overall structure. Many service providers avoid updating these fundamentals, often for years, which is a straightforward place to start.

Then there’s the mindset piece, where fears arise: “I can’t raise my prices,” or “What if I lose clients?” This is where deep, honest change comes in. It can feel like a wake-up call, requiring a willingness to shift mindset, model, and beliefs to achieve those bigger goals. It’s not glamorous, but it’s the work that makes growth possible.

Q: As someone who has a very spacious business, what do you currently outsource?

A: I actually run an extremely streamlined business so every time I've brought on support in the past it's been almost like making up tasks for them that are not part of my thing. So right now outsourcing looks like, there's a consistent Instagram stories that you'll see me post. There's someone that's actually posting all those but it actually is me obviously doing the ones that are me or like in the DM’s and stuff like that, that's all me. I outsource all my taxes and bookkeeping. That was like the first kind of outsourcing I did. Money is great, but I don't want to do that. All of that's been outsourced since like the very beginning. My podcast production and all that is outsourced but really those are the only things that like run in my business.

Q: Do you have any tips on where to start tangibly incorporating new habits into our routines?

A: Habit stacking! To make a new habit like journaling stick, tie it to something you already do. Start simple: leave the journal out, ready and waiting. Choose tools that feel natural—I realized I needed a spiral-bound journal to actually enjoy writing. Then, keep it easy with low-pressure prompts. Start with a quick page or ten sentences on “What am I thinking about right now?” or “How am I feeling today?” Don’t aim for perfection; the goal is to just get a few thoughts down. Simple steps like these make the practice sustainable.
