The 3 Things I Did to Find My Groove as a Personal Brand
AND HOW TO SHOW YOURSELF SOME LOVE AS YOU GROW INTO A POWERFUL PERSONAL BRAND
I bet you $5 I know exactly how your mornings go - your alarm goes off, and Insta flips on.
You grab your phone the moment you wake-up in the morning, lay in bed, scrolling away.
Immediately, you're comparing yourself and your content to all the viral reels and your biz bestie’s boomin’ comment section.
You get up, throw on yesterday’s sweatshirt, your hair in a bun, and start your day trying to get your slow and cranky toddler up and out the door.
Your mental to-do list begins to grow, as “show up on instagram” looms at the top. The pressure to post is so high that you can feel your anxiety creep up just thinking about it.
You stress over what you would say the entire morning, questioning if it’s funny enough or smart enough. Do you have the right hashtags or are those even a thing anymore.
You plop on the couch to make a reel when you realize you have no cute video content - none of it's aesthetic or cute, and you're not even in any of them.
You pick a random faceless clip and a trending audio and call it a day. Post, share, sit back and wait for the flood of notifications.
Sound about right? It's a pretty educated guess because it's a literal play-by play for how my mornings used to go.
Comparison was high, Pinterest aesthetics seemed unattainable, “doing it for the gram” felt icky, and showing up as myself was really really hard…
But it's cool, you know I'm not going to just leave you hanging there alone…
Here’s what I did to start over and find my groove (and myself) through my mornings:
✨ ROMANTICIZED THE SHIT OUT OF MY DAY
When comparison made showing up on social media really hard, I knew it was more of an internal battle. I needed to really focus on being grateful for what I had, and pride in my own taste. I started romanticizing little parts of my day to elevate the beauty around this life I’m creating - and feel really excited to share those parts with you. It’s wild how some of the simplest things can make such a difference - like putting my diet coke in a fancy glass, lighting candles at dinner, decluttering my workspace, creating my content when the light is pouring in the windows.
✨ STARTED TAKING NOTICE
All of that romanticizing sounds really nice, but it didn’t come easily until I practiced noticing and appreciating the little glimmers in my life. The ART OF NOTICING is a daily practice that not only helps me romanticize my life but also brings so much gratitude, beauty and inspiration. I had to become aware of the time and space in my day. Which brings me to the next step…
✨ STOPPED POSTING IN THE MOMENT
I used to feel intense pressure to post in the moment - like waiting hours or days discredited whatever I was doing. Instead, it made me way less present, and way more critical of my content. Instead, now I will romanticize, notice and capture if I feel led to - then give my brain time to catch up with how this will connect and bring value (or if it just lives in the camera roll for now). That time in between has given me so much more pride in the overall story/value/connections that I create in content.
If you want to start showing up authentically and building a personal brand YOU LOVE and that your people can deeply connect with… I made a personal brand program, You're a Vibe, just for you.
