Q: What is a brand voice and where do I get one?

The simplest way I think about brand voice is, especially if you have a personal brand, it's literally just how you talk. You don't have to overthink it. Think about how you talk with your friends, with the people you feel most supported and loved and safe with, where you feel like you can be your full self and pay attention to how you're acting and how you're talking and the language you're using and the energy levels you're using. That's really kind of where it starts. Pay attention to what makes you feel like your best self or your full self.

Q: How do I figure out my brand voice if I'm not a writer?

If you feel like you're not a writer, how can you do some verbal processing? Because there's a lot of people who don't feel like they're writers but that doesn't mean you have nothing to say. Maybe that's where AI could come into play, where it could do some tricks for you. If you let yourself verbally process into a voice memo or a podcast, mind and continue, you can transcribe that and turn it into a caption, or you could outsource someone to turn into a caption for you, like a VA or something.

Q: How do I start feeling comfortable showing up on stories and know what I have to say is important?

As for the mindset behind knowing what I have to say is important, I think of one person. My dad was a pastor and one of the best things that I ever learned from him was, he would say, “if this resonates with one person that's all that matters.” Like it just needs to be for one person. It doesn't need to be for a full house or a bunch of people. Like that's not what matters at the end of the day. It's just about that one person needing to hear what you have to say right now. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by social media with all the noise, so taking a break or unfollowing accounts can be helpful. Setting boundaries on social media can be helpful to keep you focused.
